Farm to Table Takes Root in Mesilla Vineyards Estates with New Agrihood.
What is an Agrihood, one may be wondering? An Agrihood is, in simplest terms, a master planned residential community built with a working farm as a focus and amenity. The Urban Land Institute estimates 200 Agrihoods are at some stage of development in the United States.
While many existing neighborhoods are centered around a golf course, pool or fitness center, Mesilla Vineyards Estates will feature a working farm. The new 14 Acre farm is surrounded by current homes or new homes sites and be managed by a professional horticulturist. Much like residents in golf course communities who enjoy the beauty of the course, the residents of the Mesilla Vineyards Estates will share the beauty of a farm. Homeowners will enjoy watching the farm grow local varieties of produce throughout the seasons. It also means they will have access to freshly grown produce for their evening meal.
The farm will provide a relaxing environment for walks, feature a community gazebo for private use and be an important component of the surrounding environment. As an additional benefit, the local community outside of the Vineyards, may obtain it’s fresh produce by a visit to the farm’s new store located in Mesilla.
